I have been waiting for the Padstand for a while now after I first saw an out of stock preview on Amazon. It is now on sale and can be purchased from www.padstand.co.uk using Google checkout.

I ordered it as a pre order with a July delivery date estimated but it seems the initial production run had some delays so it wasn't until today I got mine in the post. So a bit of a thumbs down there, especially since my card was charged on order rather than dispatch.

However - I have been playing with it for a bit and its actually a very cool cheap iPad stand solution. I have uploaded a little video to show it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbcP7GieRdc

Its 9.99 + postage and basically its a very solid rubber stand that holds the iPad securely in landscape and vertical display positions. Its large enough to be stable but (The black version anyway) does not stand out too much when the iPad is put inside. As its a rubber material its unlikely to scratch the iPad too.

In addition to the stand capabilities its also angled at a slant and you can lie the iPad on it to get a decent typing angle. As you can see from the angle in the video the iPad doesnt lay totally flat when in landscape mode for typing but it feels pretty stable and doesnt slip so its a viable solution if you want something to use to prop the iPad into a typing angle. In fairness to the seller using it as a typing stand isnt the selling point of this but as its useable that way its worth highlighting.

Overall Im actually really pleased with this - its basic but my argument with stands is that the iPad should be the focus and this does just that. Its functional, not flashy but it does the job. While the delays in getting the stand were not ideal I assume it is because this is a new product and I guess thats what you get for pre ordering a new product lol.

There are other colours available but it was the black that attracted me - and others I assume given the initial production run seems to be sold out. Once the seller gets some new ones in though I would reccomend this.

It's like the Apple iPad Dock but more childish. I'm really not a fan of the bulkiness and lack of design. Thanks for your review :)

Geez...It looks like crap. I don't care how cheap it is.

I'm with you, ShneiderMan. Thanks, too, for the review, OP.

You reckon? I think it looks alright myself lol. Its a black stand - not sure what else it could look like without being too flashy. It does the job basically - the only stand I have seen that I want more is the Griffin Loop and god knows when thats coming out in the UK lol. Now that is a sexy stand!

Still - its an option for people I guess.

Maybe it's uber functional, which I doubt, but I would rather try making something myself before spending money on this.

Looks like it will do the job of holding an iPad but looks a little clunky. Does it flex much?

No - its pretty solid rubber. Barely flexes at all- maybe it would if you wanted to push in an iPad with a back cover but not tried that. But its not really flexible.

Built, I'm working on a stand and I'm looking for a bit of feedback.

Looks good from what I can see of it.

It appears to fold...Is that correct? Since many of us are mobile with our iPads, we need something that will fit easily into a bag. It appears you had it in your back pocket and then unfolded it.

I couldn't really tell how it attaches to the back of the iPad from the video. Perhaps I missed it (trying to multi-task here).

Built and Darth. If you go to the thread I started there are some better images. It folds to about 2"x4" so it would fit in your pocket. I think I will sell it in a small microfiber pouch similar to a bag you might get with sun glasses. I'm new hear and don't know if this is cool posting what I’m working on but if you like I can keep you guys up to speed with my developments. I will have some rapid prototypes early next week. I appreciate the feedback!

Hey OP, thanks for the review - glad you like your PadStand...

Obviously I can't plug my own product here, but hopefully I can answer your questions...

It is designed to be as simple and un-obstructive as possible. Like the Apple Dock, but with the added option of Landscape viewing mode.

The size is small and compact to make it portable, but it is actually quite sturdy at 200grams.

PadPivot, I can't see your video, but if its anything like the Compass (http://twelvesouth.com/products/compass/), I am sure you will do well.

Be carefull not to promote your product on here though as it is a breach of forum rules.

If there are any other questions post them here, or send me a PM.

Best regards,
Adam @ Padstand

Having used it for a couple of days now I stand by my liking this stand. As a stand its actually very good.

Shame it couldn't have been angled better to allow the iPad to lie down on it for typing - a future revision maybe?

But i do think some of the posters here have been a little harsh lol.

Here's a tip, if you lie your iPad so the top edge goes over the small button cutout, it allows your iPad to lay flatter, and gives a more stable platform for typing. Works Landscape or portrait mode..

See where the finger cutout is, put the top edge of your iPad there!

Well after actually using one, I don't think it's a bad stand. I love the strong blue color and the rubber seems very solid. I'll have a review up soon. :)
