I'm shopping for memory for my soon to be delivered HexCore.

Anybody had good/bad experiences with third party suppliers they'd care to share?

The price differential with the Apple Store seems outrageous. I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing.

TIA

OWC is good, as is Trans Int'l (http://www.transintl.com). I've bought from both vendors and have never had a problem.

I'm trying to purchase 4X4 Gig = 16 total

Trans Intl (http://www.transintl.com/store/category.cfm?Category=2865&RequestTimeOut=500) is $568

OWC (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/1333D3W4M16K/) is $679

Seems a large difference for items that are the same.

Also Crucial.com and Newegg has some Kingston 2 and 4GB sticks here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007968%20600032315%20600032361&IsNodeId=1&name=DDR3%201333%20%28PC3%2010666%29).

Best thing is to do the match - RAM + Shipping + Tax (if any) and buy from the least expensive source. They are all reputable and there is no advantage to one over the other.

This one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139077) will work, too. Same RAM, without the Apple-Tax.

OP: Just search your local "Lowest Price"-Website for 4GB DDR3-1333 ECC with Temperature Sensor.

Quick question from a Uk member, would this (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-193-OC) 12gb set be good for the 6 Core - I'm probably going to be buying the machine in the next week or so and want to have the memory ready for when it arrives.

Thanks :)

Will this Samsung RAM work? If so, will registered ram cause any issues?

Does anybody know what halogen-free RAM apple uses.. I want to get some halogen-free RAM in 8GB sticks like that samsung one above?

OWC is good, as is Trans Int'l (http://www.transintl.com). I've bought from both vendors and have never had a problem.

Someone mentioned to make sure the memory has the onbaard thermal sensor, suggesting some don't resulting in the cooling fans defalting to 100%.

I can't find any mention of a thermal sensor on Trans Int memory. Anyone know? guess I'll call tommorrow....

I'm looking at the 3 x8GB for a hex.

Non Apple (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139077&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=3160356&SID=)

Apple (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139228)

The price difference seems to be the thermal sensor. Also, some modules have a heat spreader.

I'm waiting to see what's on my new machine

OWC has a good line of products and great service, but their prices are typically on the high side. OWC's current price for 8GBx3 (24GB) is $1096, compared to Tranintl.com's price of $894.
