Does anyone know the make and model of the 1 TB hard drive that ships with the 2010 Mac Pro? I'm looking to buy an identical model and create a RAID 0 array.
Thanks

Specifically, which WD Black is in the new MP? I'm guessing Apple used the 32 MB cached version as that drive supports 3 Gb/sec. ???
32 MB version:

64 MB version:

From pictures I've seen in another thread it is the 1TB 32MB cache WD Caviar Black.

Just open up the DiskUtil and compare the part numbers?

Actually, there are 3 versions (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&Description=caviar%20black%201TB&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=20). I think Apple rather uses the bulk SATA 3GBit/s-version, aka WD1001FALS. Or some older revision, which you won't be able to buy.

It is, indeed, a WD1001FALS. (At least, it is in mine.)

Is it loud? I heard the Caviar Black is supposed to be the powerful, but loud one and the Caviar Green a silent but slow one?

I have 3 2TB Caviar Blacks, 1 in my Dell and 2 in external enclosures, and they've never seemed particularly loud. I plan to put all 3 in my new Mac Pro in a RAID 0 array, so that should be a real test of just how loud they are!

I can hear it when it's working, but only if I actually listen for it. I don't notice it during normal use. It's not what I would call loud.
