When I had a 27" iMac, my first Mac, the only way I could use it without making everything bigger on most pages was to change the native resolution down to 1900 x 1080. This worked well but made some things a bit soft because I was not using the monitors native resolution - which always offers the best results. I now use a 26" NEC monitor - mostly for serious photo editing, with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. It is extremely easy on my eyes. Higher resolution means denser pixels so fixed pixel things like youtube videos, fonts on a word/page document or web sized images are smaller. My 15" MBP actually has the same pixel density as the 27" iMac, 110 ppi. But, the iMac is bigger and therefore positioned further back making the apparent size smaller.

There are ways to help with this like changing the minimum font size in Safari to something larger but that doesn't always work as some websites have the frames on the page overlap and look terrible.

      Hope that helps.

Hi, I saw your post about not being able to see the screen comfortably when the resolution is too high. First, I mean no disrespect, which is why I responded privately - but I was wondering why one wouldn't just change the resolution setting (under display settings) to something more suitable? I admit that this is my first mac, but in windows that was the solution.
      Thanks, and take care!
