Guys and Gals

I dug out my old iPod 2G earlier today. I want to give it as a present to my bro.

The iPod was dead ... had not been charged in ages. I plugged it into my MacBook using my iPhone 4 cable and nothing happened. I cant find the original iPod cable.

Should the iPod 2G charge with the iPhone 4 cable? If not, is there anyway to charge it if I dont have the original cable? I think I might have the original 2G dock. Will this be any use?

Thanks in advance ... OF

That iPod will charge via Firewire only and the iPhone 4 cable won't work since it charges via USB only. You'll need to find an older Firewire iPod cable to charge that.

There's no way to plug a 30 pin iPod cable into it.

Maybe you are referring to the iPod 3G. It has the four buttons on the front. It chargers only via FireWire.

I managed to get it charged in an old dock I found ... and I now have it showing in iTunes but not charging.

So is there no way to get the 3G charging via USB?? Tell me there is a hack :)
