I'm having a bit of a problem accessing certain sites. I keep getting an error message that says "Safari can’t connect to the server" when I'm trying to access sites that I frequently go to (for example, Facebook). I thought it might be a problem with the firewall on my wireless router, so I tried from a different location (school wi-fi), but I still can't access the sites all the time. Sometimes the sites work, sometimes they don't. I tried using a different browser (Firefox)...no luck. I tried calling my ISP and they walked me through tons of troubleshooting and told me it was something wrong with the settings on my computer. I've reset Safari, emptied the cache, deleted the cookies...still no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I haven't removed and reinstalled Safari yet because I figured it wouldn't matter since the other browsers don't work. Any pointers? I'm on a MacBook Pro, Mac OS X 10.6.7, Safari Version 5.0.4.

Thanks everyone!
Matthew

theres most likely something wrong with your isp's servers, or one of the servers/connections along the way.

Look up near the top of this page - there is a link called "Troubleshooting Software Problems" - on the page that that brings up is another link called "Troubleshooting network problems". Try those procedures an see if they help.

Thank you! I went through the list of problems and solutions and it looks like something strange is happening when I use Traceroute. It looks like it doesn't list a possible solution for that part though. When I trace a site like Facebook (one of the sites that I frequently can't access), I get this:

Traceroute has started…

I'm no network whiz, but I'm guessing there's a problem with my network connecting to Facebook. I tried the other problems/solutions on the page but no luck...
