...I don't have one but they said they'll mail you one for free.

Do you have to pay for anything if you rarely/don't even use it?

It says the only charges are:

Transparent Pricing
•2.75% per swipe for Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and AmEx
•Manually-entered cards cost 3.5% + $0.15 per transaction
•No merchant account, monthly fees or set-up costs
•Deposits available next business day for card-swiped transactions

So does that mean I could get one for free and not even have to use it?

Yes. There is no cost in having the reader. The only costs are when a card is swiped using the reader.

It's a nice service. No fees when you don't use it and low fees when you do, and they quickly send the money to your bank account.

I've used mine only about 4 times in the last year it's wonderful, especially when splitting bills, in my case amongst my siblings who all live a long way from each other.

Everything works just like they say it does, no surprises.

Got the reader for free back when it was released. Haven't used it once. No cost unless you swipe (a credit card that is, apparently some fools think you can swipe dollar bills too).
