Radial Fractals

maybe someone here can help me out:

i try to generate a fractal image like this one in photoshop (or preferred as vector in illustrator):

there are some photoshop/illustrator plugins like Fractal Explorer but i can't get the pulsating, wavy tunnel effect with that.

does anyone know how to do this?
