Couldn't stand 2008 version when it was out, switched to iWork '09 and been using ever since. Can't stand Numbers .xls conversions so I just bought Office 2011 Mac for their Black Friday special $99. I love it. Mainly because I'll get the next version of Office for free. But here's the rub - I heard Mac won't get the next version of Office (Office 2013), so I would that work? I'm assuming they'll honor their word for whatever the next Office version is? Should I take and keep a screen shot of their offer?

Macs typically get office 1 year after Windows. This with Office:Windows in 2003 vs Office:Mac in 2004, Office:Windows in 2007 and Office:mac in 2008. I would think that you would be getting a free version of the next Mac compatible version, presumably 2014. That said, it couldn't hurt to take a screenshot.

I have been MS free for six years, but when the $99 special offer came, I couldn’t resist. Since I teach seminary classes and get 75% of the papers in .doc or .docx format, it made sense. And I saved $50!

I'm saving the email that has the offer. But here's the small print:

Buy a qualifying Office for Mac product between October 19, 2012 - April 30, 2013, and download Office 365 (one year subscription) free, when available (Internet access is required, and connect time charges may apply).

Not sure what to make of this.
