Hi can someone tell me which hdmi switcher will work work with my ipad on av adapter byitself? i brought one on ebay and it doesnt detect my ipad at all. The only way i can use it is to turn on one of my other hdmi devices.

Are you running it self powered? If so, you might need to use a DC adapter.
Also, the "auto detect" function on those boxes, especially cheap ones, is usually kind of wonky, so if it has a manual switching option, use the switch/button.
FWIW, I'd recommend checking out Monoprice, they have a huge selection of HDMI switchers, good prices, good return policies.
