I'm trying to us a Dell E20WFP monitor with my 2012 Macbook Air. The native resolution of the monitor is 1680x1050. That is not present in the settings to change it to. The closest options are 1920x1080 (won't work) and 1400x1050. How can I get the correct resolution to show up?

That's the resolution of my MBP. I'm surprised to hear there is an external monitor that supports it. How do you have your monitor connected to your Mac? DisplayPort to VGA? DVI? HDMI? Mine is connected via Mini DisplayPort to VGA and my monitor native resolution (1920x1080) shows up just fine in the scaled list.

I would think that the monitor native resolution should show up as the top (first) choice in the "scaled" list of resolutions and would be automatically selected when you pick "best for display".
