Chrome redirecting

On my mom's mac, (osx version 10.7.5) Chrome seems to be redirecting certain pages to a blank page with something trying to load in the bottom left that eventually cancels out. I know next to nothing about fixing Macs as i use windows myself, and have since i was 6 and first started using computers. The issue seems to be only a problem when Java's running, which is on facebook, boston.com, and a few other sites though those are some she seems to be having the most trouble with. Any idea how to fix it? Already disabled java for a temporary fix, and tried resetting router to default settings (aside from changing SSID and router password.)
