Mac Mini Late 2012 and Lacie rugged 120GB external SSD

Just bought Mac MIni late 2012 (i7) and have ordered Lacie rugged 120GB external ssd drive. Could someone please desribe in detail how to install it as a boot drive and how to install only necessary system files onto it. I have already installed in the 1TB internal harddisk quite a few applications like Adobe's photoshop, Adobe Premiere, etc. How to transfer all applications or should I do a fresh install
