I just joined MacRumors, I think this is the place for all my questions. someone gave me a G4 Powermac with 2 Hard drives. The original HD runs OS X 10.4.11. The second Hard Drive runs 10.2.8. Neither of these have classic installed and I need classic to run my program. I have an ibook with the disks that include OS 9.2.2. Can I run this disk in the G4 and load classic, or is this a bad idea

If you're talking about the discs that came with your iBook, they won't work on the Power Mac as they're machine-specific. To get Classic Mode under OS X you just have to copy an OS 9 system folder to one of your OS X drives, perhaps from your iBook. However, if you actually have to boot into OS 9, you need to have OS 9 drivers already installed, and if your OS X partition is formatted as MacOS Extended (Journaled), you'd need to put OS 9 on a separate partition (I believe).
