I have a 4th generation 8GB iPod Touch that I got new in Christmas of 2011. Just today, I dropped it in water and since I wasn't too close to home I couldn't put it in rice too quickly. The device still works, but the speaker doesn't and the headphone jack probably is toast as well. The bottom half of the device was what was submerged. It was submerged for about 20 seconds while I looked for it after it flew out of my pocket while I was on a bike ride.
It's sitting in a bowl of rice right now.
What my question is is if the speaker and headphone port still don't work (The home button and dock connector do work still) can I still take it to Apple and have it replaced for free of charge, or would they not do it? It is more than a year old as of Christmas of 2012.
