Imac g3 dv400 slotloader
All was fine until the g3 froze after taking off a few files, it would not reset so I switched it off at the power supply for about 24hrs which is the longest time it's been off in 6 years. When I restarted it the screen looked washed out as if some of the green was missing, so we removed the rest of our important files immediately which transfered fine. Next step-I decided to use the macos 9 restore disc but when we restarted the machine the screen was distorted and gray. Ive tried a new battery and zapping the pram, extensions off etc, and now when I boot it up it just spins up for about 5 seconds and then cuts out. We did try an external monitor in the middle of this and did get a picture at one stage.I"ve heard that it could be a firmware problem even though macos x has not been added.
