Just read a news story on MacCentral with Joswiak quoted as saying about the new(old) version of the PowerMac G4 for sale , "As long as people keep buying them, we'll keep making them".

Now I have two questions.
1)Do you think maybe this extension of the PowerMac G4 is designed to fulfill an outstanding order with Motorola, or

2) They plan on offering the PM G4 as a lower-cost "expandableMac"?

Regards,
Gus

I'd be very happy if Apple made the Power Mac G4 a new low-end Mac. However, I doubt this will happen until The PowerBook, the iMac, and possibly even the eMac get the G5. So that will be a while. Plus the price would need to plummet in order to be classified as low-end.

My guess would be #2...
There are plenty of people out there that don't need the latest and greatest, and some that do. Therefore, I think that apple will keep selling the g4's for a while. I think it will take quite a while for the g5 chips to be in every system (imac, powerbook, etc.)...
