iPod What Video compressors should I use for coverting video onto an iPod on a PC

Hi,

I use Popcorn 2.0 to convert my videos for the iPod. My dad is getting an iPod touch and he has a PC. The question is what are good programs on a PC to use to convert DVD's and home movie videos into the iPod format? Also, are there good freeware/shareware programs that do this on the PC?
