Mac Mini Memory Maddness

ARGH! I'm so annoyed right now.

I picked up a Mini (brand new) to replace my last PC box. It's not used for much, just email, IM, etc.. I ordered the very basic.

So, I picked up two 1GB SO-DIMMs and a 250 hard drive. Put them in and installed 10.4. Then it started rebooting. I ran the diags and after 6 extended tests it gave a memory error. So I pulled out one dimm and tried again. 20 extended passes, no errors. Okay, so a bad dimm, right?

Wrong. I tested the other dimm, 20 extended passes, no errors. Put both in and I get an error on 3~6 passes. Tried reseating, swapping sockets... Nothing.

Has anyone else seen this? It's "Transend" memory, normally pretty good. I'm sending it back and going back to Muskin.

Any thoughts / feelings?

Sometimes DIMMs just don't work well together. There are so many variables when it comes to RAM there's no telling what it was. I usually recommend a matched pair, but even that can sometimes be meaningless. All you can really do is try again, maybe switch to a different manufacturer if that doesn't work. Personally, I tend to stick with OCZ.

That doesnt matter. Ram is still ram and is finicky as a cat.
