I moved some duplicate tracks from my iTunes folder to the trash and this is where they have stayed, even after I emptied the trash. I can move the files in and out of folders within the trash, but if I try to move them to the desktop, they copy rather than move. Anything else that is in the trash is emptied, but these files remain. This began in Tiger and has continued in Leopard (I did a simple update). Any ideas on how to fix this (or if this is a first ever)?

Did you try to secure empty the trash?

Thank you for the suggestion--this was something I hadn't thought of. When I tried to do this, my machine never was able to finish the process of emptying the trash. I eventually had to force quite the finder. I have no idea if this helps a diagnosis of the problem, but at least it is a bit more information.
