Saving stickies to desktop

Hey,
Im new to Mac, enjoying the beauties of its magic and skills.

I was just wondering if its possible to save a stickie on the screen so that when i turn my MPB on or off it will remain there.

ive talked to people who have experience with macs, but are also new with the new system and dont think its possible.
i know you can save it in a folder, but can you keep it on the main display????

Use the Stickies program, and set it to open at login (right-click on it's icon while it's open in the Dock, and select Open at Login). It's a program that's scarcely changed since OS 8, btw, so it's tried and true.

Just tried it and worked. It's not exactly what you want, but it gets the job done.

You could do this, but the widget will float above all other windows and apps. Gets in the way sometimes.
