I was just wondering if there is any possible way that you can get the 15' models to view at a higher screen resolution other than 1440x900, or would it look like total crap!?

Can a 15' MBP view at a higher res than 1440x900?

The LCD panel itself cannot display more then 1440x900. Some Windows machines will let you go with a larger resolution, but actually you still only see what the physical LCD maximum is - you can "pan around" to see the parts of the screen that extend beyond the physical resolution.

No, that is there native and highest resolution. You can plug in an external monitor.
Well you can go and buy a WUXGA panel and replace the one in the MBP and you would end up with 1900x1200 in the 15-inch. You can also get a 2568x1600 as well.
The only issue:
1) They are S-IPS panels, which are very expensive (around $800 for the 1900x1200 and $2k for the 2568x1600--same resolution as the 30-inch LCDs)
2) They are CCFL, so you need to get an inverter card somehow.
3) They are thicker, so you need to modify the display housing to fit one.
4) Did I mention they are expensive?

You can replace the laptop image yourself on an older pre-LED MBP. There's threads on this forum, look for them! I've replaced my 15" screen with a compatible LG screen, and am working with 1920x1200 pixels... Looks great!
