Mac OSX Battery

My battery is just NOT CHARGING!! As soon as I take out the AC Adaptor it switches off. The green light on the pwer supply never goes to amber to show it is charging the battery and the battery menu is specifying that the Battery is not charging. My laptop is just over a year old. Why is this happening?

Hopefully you have Apple Care or this is going to be expensive, you need to take your laptop to the Apple store nearest you as it sounds like the battery has broken, (probably the connections to the computer oxidised) which is quite common. If you have Apple Care you'll get a new one immediately, if not you'll have to buy it, and depending where you live they can cost upto $150.

Have you tried resetting the SMC?

Will the battery charge on a different macbook? If so, you may only need a new battery. Also, make sure you have the Apple macbook battery update.
