I just purchased a Cannon iPixma 2600 and was wondering how to connect it to my basic Netgear router so that my two macbooks can print via wireless. Is it as simple as enabling printer sharing and having it connected to one of my laptops? I wish there was a way to simply connect it to my router.
Thanks for any help!

Does your Netgear router have a utility for your Macs? I have a wireless printing network setup using Airport Utility for my airport extreme. It might work the same way for Netgear routers.

Apple's Airport Express/Extreme routers implement Mac-to-Mac style printer sharing (built-in software). Other routers can't do that so easily.

Your idea to connect the printer to a Mac and share it should work. Look up printer sharing in Mac Help under the Finder Help menu.
