How to change netbios

Hey all,

could someone please tell me how I can change my netbios on my June 2009 mbp? I've tried changing it but the changes don't stick. It appears to be the same as my username which is "jdp" and it won't let me change it in prefs>network>airport (or ethernet)>advanced>wins>netbios

any ideas?

I've tried creating a new location and then modifying but it still doesn't change it.

The reason I would like to do this is so I can browse a windows network. I have read that changing the netbios name may help with this.
