A lot of the apps I use on my iPhone like Bank of America, AroundMe, Urban Spoon, Zagat, etc. all use the GPS function to find my current location. I am curious if these apps would still work on a Wifi only iPad? or would I need the 3g version? Thanks for the help 😀

It will try and get position based on its current WiFi access point location (and/or others it detects).

It will function like the ipod touch. So, its ability to find its position depends on which wifi network it is attached to. At home, it will find my position based on my IP address. If you are connected to a wifi that is hidden behind a proxy or even a corporate network, it won't find your position at all.

In other words, the wifi version does not have GPS. It uses wifi to estimate its position instead.
