What's with not being able to copy whole folders to applications on the ipad?

Case in point in goodreader. One has to go through the cumbersome procedure of zipping the folder, adding it in itunes as a zipped file, then unzipping it in goodreader on the ipad, deleting various garbage folders, etc. etc.

What?

Unless I am missing something here (and I could very well be missing something) this is very frustrating.
