Itunes not letting me drag a song into itunes

i use to be able for example take a .mp3 that is on my desktop and drag it into itunes and it would then be in the music list on itunes, now i cant do it, i have updated to the latest version and still nothing... i have reinstalled itunes it worked i restarted the computer and i open itunes and i can

any ideas?
i am on windows7

you may convert the song that you need to a compatible extension
and the RealPlayer is updated to do so

there all mp3's so idk, may be my computer, but when i did some research and a lot of other people have had the sample problem, and no fix...

In iTunes, you can press CMD-O and selcet the files (or folders) you want to import. Does that work? If not, I might be more of a file type problem then a iTunes problem.
