iPhone 4 not connecting to iTunes?

I am trying to connect my iPhone to iTunes to update it with my music, apps, etc. But, the iPhone won't connect with iTunes. My phone shows it charging, though.

close itunes completely and replugin the phone and let itunes open on its own.

Try restarting the computer.

I may have to restart it. Closing iTunes and re-connecting the chord did nothing.

Windows or Mac ? I had the same issue on my work computer when I went to activate my phone (winxp). I tried rebooting, etc with no luck. I ended up having to uninstall iTunes, reboot, reinstall iTunes to get it to see it. And yes, the whole time it was connected via USB since it looked robe charging.
