I'd like to unlock my iPhone 4, but don't need or want it to remain jailbroken (for security & warranty reasons). If I restore a jailbroken and unlocked iPhone to a pre-JB backup, will it still be unlocked?

If not, is there any way to permanently unlock an iPhone?

If you restore after applying the ultrasn0w unlock, you will lose the unlock.

If you get it officially unlocked through your carrier, it will always be unlocked, even after a restore.

If you're in the US on AT&T, you're SOL, as they won't unlock any iPhone.

Yes, if you restore a jailbroken + unlocked phone you will loose your jailbreak and unlock.

No. If the phone came locked to a carrier from Apple, there is no way to perma unlock the phone.

You need the jb first for the unlock.
If you restore to stock firmware both unlock and jb will be gone. It's not permanent.
