My ibook g4 (1.42ghz) will not run on ac power nor will it charge the battery.
It runs fine on battery power alone. Plugging the ac adapter in has no effect. It doesn't recognize it or stop draining the battery.
Here's what I have done:
Replaced the ac adapter. No change.
Installed a new battery. Runs fine on battery, but doesn't recharge it.
Reset PMU.
Reset PRAM.
Installed a NEW DC-IN Board. No change.
Above resets again. No change.
I've purchased an external battery charger, so at least I can continue to use the computer for as long as the battery remains charged.
Is there a way to hardwire the ac adapter to where the power needs to go, so it will run on ac, but won't be "managed" for charging, etc?
Any other possible fixes short of replacing the logic board, which I believe costs over $250?
Thanks very much.
Nick
