Hey there guys,

I was wondering if anyone here places bets on the iPad?
I reckon that there can be potential for a company to setup an iPad app to rake more players in. I like the Betfair app on the iPhone but there is nothing similar on the iPad?

Alot of the websites carry flash systems to place a bet, or live video (I don't mind so much the live video) which obviously cannot be accessed on the iPad?

Especially with the World Cup coming up, I would love to sit on my couch - with the iPad watching Football (Soccer) and betting on my team to win.

Are there any websites that you have found that work well/great with the iPad?

Would appreciate any replies.

Well another 4 years has come and gone and we are on the verge of another World Cup, this time from South Africa!
Justin.tv will do it but their feed is iffy and downright choppy.
I'm also interested in finding a good stream. Unless I get a Slingbox...
Maybe Watching TV at home is the best choice for you.

I am looking for a website which will allow me to bet via my iPad, not Stream the Games. I already have an EyeTV and use TVCatchup whenever needed.

This site has been mentioned in other posts - TV Catchup. I set it up on my iPad the other day and have to admit it is really good, and it's what I'll be using on my iPad to follow the World Cup when I'm out and about!

Im hoping for a similar, good betting app that will make the games more interactive and enjoyable. The Iphone betfair app is the only current app I know of and its not the prettiest.

But ive not really tried any sites yet.

Is the BetFair app actually available in the App Store? It says "coming soon" on the web site.

I am pretty sure that Apple does not permit gambling-related apps. So, it ain't "coming soon", no matter what they say.

The best they can do is make the website iPad/iPhone compatible and iPad/iPhone friendly.

Yes it's here, http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/betfair-client/id347621336?mt=8

I'm not a big fan of Betfair, I like the idea of the odds - but I prefer Paddy Power or Bet365, or other similar websites.

Yes it's here.

Oh. The description says "simulated" gambling. What's up with that? Did somebody tell a white lie to get into the App Store?

Ah, I see that the app blocks bets placed outside of the U.K. and Ireland. Maybe it's just the U.S. (and other places that don't permit Internet gambling) where Apple prohibits actually placing bets?

Lol, who knows about Apple's policies.

I got in touch with Bet365 and they sent me this:

I can confirm that we are in the process of releasing a brand new mobile service that will work well with the iPod and iPad.

This is in the process of being updated at the moment and should be available shortly.

Sound's good to me!

If you've got an iPhone or iPad I think the only native apps are Betfair, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes. In Australia TabSports have also managed to get a betting app past Apple.

The cool thing about the Ladbrokes app is that you can watch live horse racing on the iPhone or iPad once you've place a bet of £1 or more.

Despite the lack of flash support you can watch live sports from sportsbooks like Bet365.com thanks to the Skyfire app. So far this summer I've watched live streams of the US open golf and Wimbledon on my iPad while at work and commuting. There are more detailed instruction here on watching sports live on iPhone and iPads

The web apps from William hill and Bet365 are pretty good and work just as well as the native apps IMO.

UK apps

Bit late but there's now a few apps in the app store for both iPad and iPhone users, some of the mobile sites are just as good though really. The best iphone apps i've found so far are the William Hill iPhone app and the Sky bet iPhone app of the mobile sites I think that bet 24's is rather good but the bet365 one is really irritating. It seams to highlight the selection below what you've pressed and then go to the one you actually pressed. I've now stopped using it for this reason.

I found most of the information on betting apps here - Best iPhone betting apps
