MacBook says it is fully charged at 99%

Yes it is. Your mac will not charge the battery again unless it drops below 95%. anything 95% and above is considered "fully charged."

This is to help prevent premature aging of the battery. There's little point or benefit gained from constantly cycling a battery every time it drops to 99%.

Yes. It will say that often between 95% and 99% percent.

I had the exact same problem this morning with a new MBP that I just got yesterday
I tried unplugging the power cord and letting it run down to 98, 97, 96, to no avail. Then I let the battery run down to sub-90 and bam, it worked.

But hey, at least I know why now haha. I guess next time 95 will be the magic number.

Just to nitpick slightly.... but it's not really a "problem" if it was designed that way, and if it actually improves the life-span of the battery.

Not only is it not a "problem," but you're not really solving anything by forcing the battery to run down a little bit only to charge it right back up. You're just defeating a feature that was intended to prolong the life of the battery.

Just use the battery normally, and if you're constantly plugged in, be sure to run the battery FULLY down (or close to it at least) once a month.

I purchased my MBP from a local Apple Store about a week ago. I have done a full battery calibration twice since then. Now my capacity is actually reading over what its suppose to...thats fine with me!

You can use CMD+SHIFT+4 to select the area you want to be shot


or use CMD+SHIFT+4 > SPACEBAR > select window to make a screenshot of a window you select.


In both cases the image is being saved to the Desktop as .png file.

That's normal, don't panic about that...

Mine is much the same. Steady at 99%.

Let your mbp battery drop below 80%. Plug it back in. It will charge back up to 100%.

99% vis-a-vis 100%?

How many things in life have you discovered that proved to be 100%?

As you recall that, then ask yourself, "in view of that, is 99% all that bad?"
