Post Pictures of Your MacBook Pro After Months/Years of Usage

I'm curious how these gorgeous, aluminum MacBook Pros hold up for everybody else on these forums. After spending all of its time on my desk :rolleyes: (unfortunately and fortunately, my iPhone did most of the things that I wanted to do which made it inconvenient to carry around a $2500 laptop), my MacBook Pro is pristine after a year and a half. That's also due to my trying to keep it pristine. It's becoming embarrassing how little the MacBook Pro itself is used since it's hooked up to a display, a keyboard, and a mouse. Since I hooked it up a few weeks after I bought it, I sold my year-old Windows desktop and it has never been used as a laptop again, though I might change that.

Share pictures of how your MacBook Pro has held up. Give details about how long you've had it and how OCD you were or weren't with it (there's definitely a big variety of these forums). this could be a useful thread to those considering a MacBook Pro as well. I don't have any recent pictures of mine at the moment, though I may take some soon.

Well, my MBP is two months old and almost brand new, but I don't have any pics yet, but I have some pics of my precious late 2007 whitebook, it served me well 26 months, and was in pretty good shape the day I sold it.

Excuse the low quality pictures... This is my 13" 2009 MacBook Pro, it's a couple weeks over one year old now. Everything's still just like when I got it, except the texture on the keys of course, but that's expected.

Very nice. Did you ever had a moment where you needed to sent it back to Apple for fixing?

I had a keycap pop off and the scissor mechanism break, but that was my own fault above all else (something got caught under it and I pulled it up without thinking, oops). Brought it to the Apple store, they fixed it in-store and replaced the key.

That's the only problem I've had with it. I've upgraded the HDD and RAM as well (500GB/4GB) myself.

This is my 2006 MBP. Other than some smoothing out of the trackpad, the body is nearly like new. I took it with me, here and there, hundreds of times, and I was not OCD at all.

Wow, I didn't know there was so much difference between the two MBP's. I have the 13.3 inch MBP with the black boarder arround the screen, and was quite surprised to see on the MBP without the black boarder around the screen the "margin" around the keys was so wide. I guess I am glad I wound up with this one. (I was going to get the white one, but it was a little more expensive than I could afford at the time. (Meaning I had prior financial obligations to take care of. I bought my MBP as an unexpected thing because of our old laptop finally gave up and the people who manufactured the machine wouldn't honor the fix for a 4th particular part. :apple:'s are awesome!

Try using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser... I think it might be able to remove the shine of the trackpad (unless the paint has worn off).

Try at your own risk, though.

They are different because they are two different generations/body styles, and two different sizes. The one in the pic looks to be a 17"er

just got rid of an early 08 MBP to get an i5.

My early 08 had like 3 scratches on it and no dings. If you take care of your stuff it will last you a very long time. It's sad how many systems I see on a daily basis in my line of work that are absurdly filthy, dented, or scratched to all hell.

People spend so much money on stuff and never take care of it.

Mine needs a damn good clean and a new A key! My one is pretty scratched for some reason.

One dent and a few scratches, all on the bottom.

Still going strong.

I think it has smoothed out, not become greasy. In either case, taking an eraser to it doesn't sound worth the bother – especially if there's some risk involved. At most angles, it's barely noticeable. And furthermore, who cares if the trackpad is a bit shiney?

Yea, don't get me wrong - its not for everyone. Some people are very OCD.

unfortunately can't find my camera..
but it's better not to see my lap top..))twice it was washing in bath and from time to time my children like to draw on it..so you can imagine..:( need a new one

I had it for 2 and half years, late 2008. not really OCD, using it like any other laptop i have owned before. Rarely leave the house.

My MBP is 16 months old, and still in like new condition with no marks or scratches and going strong. Even after all the travelling its done between uni and home, it still good! :D (Sorry this is the only photo i have of it)

I picked up my Late 2008 MBP on the day that they were released. It is my primary machine and I will admit that I am very careful with it. I use iKlear on it and it's still in great shape. I give it an 8GB upgrade when Lion was released and it still performs well.

It's amazing how with the unibody aluminum you just need to be a bit careful to keep your MBP in mint condition for very long.

With a crappy plastic PC, even being extra careful I always managed to screw something, most times in the most unlikely ways.
