Need help choosing a password keeper app

I have been using 1Password on my iMac and i will put it on my iPhone soon. Very reliable on my mac and man does it make it easy to go in and out of pass protected web sites. So I would recommend 1 Password because it works and works effortlessly. Good luck with your choices....

I have been using 1Password for over a year. I love it!

1Password. I use this for all password related stuff online. It works great and I haven't had a single issue in the year that I have been using it. Also it logs you in securely without ANY keystrokes.

Hey, why bother with multiple passwords? Just use 1-2-3-4-5. I have the same combination on my luggage, and it works just fine.

Has anyone tried the free Password Manager Secret Server and compared it to 1password and others?

Its gotta be 1Password, one of the most essential desktop apps I have and great on the iPhone/iPad.

This. They have a client you can install on your PC that backs up information...nothing on the cloud which I like. You can also send the encrypted information to an email for offsite storage.

Works great...highly recommended.

I am also interested in password management - the old memory just isn't what it used to be... I have two requirements above and beyond the obvious:

1. I would like something that makes it so that my iMac and my iPhone have the same solution, i.e., I don't have to do two things to be able to switch from one platform to the other in terms of accessing websites. I also have a PC at work and, while it would be nice to have the same set-up there, it is not critical.

2. I would like the software to generate secure passwords that really are secure rather than rely on my ability to random select a password.

So far I have been to the websites for 1Password, mSecure, and Strip but I can't find out anything about these specific capabilities. I HAVE seen references to "syncing" with other devices but it is not clear exactly what that implies...

Any help would be appreciated.

To those that use 1Password, does it only have a four digit code to unlock
the app?

In the app store, the pics show a four digit screen shot
to get into the app.


I use SplashID and it has two different options
for unlocking the app. There's the password
which can be anything you want it to be and
there's also a pattern way to accessing the app.
There's also a Mac/Windows app(at a charge)
that also let's you sync thru wifi.


I'm just trying to find out what's the benefit of
1Password.

I use Lastpass and it works great!

I was recommended Lastpass for a password keeper and generator. And it's working great! Works with Windows, OSX, Linux, and iOS4 on my iPhone, with the deluxe upgrade for $12 a year.

I bit the bullet and got 1Password. I have it working flawlessly, syncing effortlessly for iPhone, Mac and Windows using Dropbox. It simply works. Support is best for Mac and iPhone, but the Windows beta is perfectly functional. It's not free but you get what you pay for. I am totally satisfied.

Depends on which account you want to access. For each piece of data it stores you can specify whether you have to enter the 1Password master password to access it, or whether just the 4 digit code is enough. So you might insist on typing your big long master password to access your banking credentials, but a 4 digit code would be enough to look up your MacRumors account.

I don't know about the first point, but mSecure will do 2 for certain. You select the length of password you want (from 4 to 30 chars), and can turn on/off for inclusion each of lowercase, uppercase, numbers and special characters.

Password Manager Secret Server and 1Password are ok, however I have a small business and we use both Macs and Windows PC's, the best password manager I have found for a small business is Password Vault by Lavasoftware.com, the latest version has just been released and it has some fantastic new features like -support for multiple users on shared computers It streamlines logging into websites and Internet-based applications (Skype, FTP clients, etc), helps manage our web bookmarks, and enables my team to build custom textclip libraries. Textclip libraries can be useful for customer service personnel when constructing standardised emails, for IT specialists when entering common console command line strings, and for many other purposes.
