I think it's their best record. It's good all the way through.

I'm glad they went ahead and released it, even though guitarist Ricky Wilson (Cindy's brother) passed away during its production. It was a really tough time for the group, from what they've said in interviews.

I would often play Side 1 of the cassette version all the way through when I was a teenager, then fast-forward Side 2 to "She Brakes For Rainbows." Although there are several songs I like from each B-52's album, I can't name one that I can enjoy all the way through, although Whammy! comes close. (Darn that Yoko Ono for not allowing the B-52's to re-release their cover of "Don't Worry" on the CD version of Whammy!. I had to record that one from cassette to get it on my iPod.)

Oh come on- Theme for a Nude Beach and Ain't it a Shame are definitely not to be skipped. ;)

I guess they refuse to play these songs live too, which is too bad.

Okay, okay, Theme For A Nude Beach is an occasional guilty pleasure, I'll admit. :D

I don't think it's necessarily an outright refusal so much as it is lack of room in a live gig's "set list". Once a band has several successful album releases, it becomes really hard to revisit non-charting hits during a live performance, unless it's from the new album they're promoting or is a "cult hit" with the local audience. So many concertgoers expect a "greatest hits" compilation from established music artists that "album cut" songs often get left behind.

One notable exception: Information Society's "Repetition", from their eponymous album. The idea to record a slow ballad and make it a single was entirely the record label's, according to lead singer Kurt Harland; the band intentionally phoned in their performance in the promo video, and haven't played the song live in decades.

I know many will go for Dark Side of the Moon by the Pink Floyd, but a slightly earlier album called Atom Heart Mother is I believe is better for listening all the way through - either way both albums are right on target for listening through.

In the 70's when I got home from the airport where I worked on shift work, it was really great to be able to unwind/dose/chill by listening to Atom Heart Mother .. it sorta floats you into another world.

The only problem then (which doesnt usually apply today) is having to flip over the LP.

Recommended. Have a listen on iTunes.

:)
