I would be very appreciative if someone could do this one, and save at 12 in PS to preserve the quality. Thanks in advance!

So if you can do this with the status bar could you do this with the whole lockscreen?

Ya, I still don't understand why more people haven't asked this. I know it was said twice or more that you can't, but I don't understand why. You CAN see your lock screen background UNDER the two tone gray bar that is around the clock and date and the bottom "slide to unlock". If you mean you can't make the status bar blend (the area for carrier logo and such and I kind of understand that), but could you make the clock and current date and "slide to unlock" just "pop" out of a dark background so it doesn't have that gray fat box?

Would love a 3GS version of this, when using it on my 3GS I get a weird bright line

Also bump, was lurking this thread on my mobile last night, surprised more people haven't been posting here, it's great

Ok, color me illiterate. But can someone explain exactly how this is being done and what tools/apps are being used? Please? Thank you.

AFAICT, the bar is really a semi transpaent shaded area that goes over the background. I know I can see things through mine, but they are dimmed.

It looks to me like they are using Photoshop or some other photo manipulation tool (gimp is free and open source and I am sure there are others) to brighten the top part of the picture before applying it as a background so that when the shading is applied over it, it counteracts it and appears to be a consistent, smooth picture.

would be awesome if someone made an app thing hosted on a site that we could just upload a pic to and edit, rotate, transform, crop and add the highlighted bit on the top to make the status bar transparent.

Kinda like those site that make pic into polaroids etc - could even make an iphone app for it like Hipstermatic and Camerabag

Maybe I should do it and charge 59p OR just tell everyone else...

Hi, Newbie Here

Hi All,

I found MacRumors by scouring the net for a way to make the status bar invisible. I tried the .php website, but was not happy with the results on my three attempts.

I don't have Photoshop, so I can't try the Photoshop script. Any chance one of you who do have PS could help a fellow fanatic out?

I've got these three that I swap between, and was trying to use the .php website, but it left too much of a line on the the pictures. Thanks in advance!

Thanks OP and all posters here; great thread. I didn't think this was possible without jailbreaking. And found some awesome wallpaper here to boot. : )

Hey, I'm new to all this jailbreaking stuff, and the black bar's driving me MAD. well y'know, 'cause it's so ugly. Could anyone please tell me how to make this have a clear statusbar and how make it actually work on my iPod touch T_T
