Apple never stops innovating <3

This is awesome, everyone complains about, "ZOMG WHY DO I HAVE TO PRESS A BUTTON 2 TIMES?!?! WHHYYY??!!!??" This is a great solution, Honestly, I'd like the home button to stay, just for one more generation. Though now when held in other orientations, you won't have to reach around to press the home button, really great idea. Keep it up Apple.

The worst thing about the home button on the iPad is when I'm in landscape mode, say playing a game or reading something or whatever, holding the device with one hand and my thumb (which is holding the front of the bezel) accidentally presses it by mistake, exiting the app. This would solve that problem!

Love it when it aggressively shakes when you can't go any further left.

"SIR YOU HAVE GONE AS FAR AS YOU CAN!"

Anyone else not seeing the Multitasking Gestures in the settings? I'm running 4.3, and based on the other screenshots I've seen, it should be right between the side switch settings and the date/time settings. The side switch settings are there, but no multitask gestures. I have a 32GB WiFi+3G.

I have exactly the same problem (and the same screenshot)! I can't find the multiple touch gestures anywhere in iOS 4.3. Reformatted from DFU twice to be sure, registered developer and all. Can't figure it out.

Running WiFi only 64gb.

Any ideas anyone?

Someone PLEASE PM me if you have a link or other way for me to download this for iPad. My device is registered with Apple for development, but a friend of mine who usually has these loaded on his server has been having server issues so I can't download and install them from him. I'd really like to check out these new gestures. Thanks!

As for the gestures themselves, wow! So the next iPad, who is willing to guess that it might be missing a home button? Maybe even an orientation lock switch and volume rocker due to all the controls being available from the multitasking bar? Now if it came with bluetooth headphones they could eliminate the headphone port, and if it could be charged through a mat and use wireless syncing, then it would be just a slab with a power button using all software! I bet that is Steve Job's wet dream right there, lol. And in a way, seems consistent with Apple adding these new software features and their lust for simplicity. I like it!

I don't have that setting. Probably my problem...

I'm a little bit surprised that Apple has decided to use these gestures. Previously there was a clear separation; while an App was running it completely owned the touch-screen and the physical hardware button was the user's way of exiting the App. Now the situation is a little less clear with four and five finger gestures being owned by the OS.

I guess Apple took the view that reserving some gestures for the OS was justified for the functions that the gestures provide. Personally I can't wait to start using the multitasking bar gesture!

I'd be interested to know now the next/previous App gestures work. I'm guessing that the order is the same as that show in the multitasking bar but I'm having difficulty working out now that could sensibly work especially when you throw in new Apps started through the home screen. Surely the ordering would change around all the time.

would have been nicer if that gesture returned you to a developer designated app home page.

As it is, the home button is a fine method to return to the home screen.

Very impressive, although I think they got it from Blackberry Playbook :p.. I saw a video on multi touch gestures being used for multi tasking on the BP..

I don´t think there is any need to remove the home button from the iPad as long as the fram is needed to avoid your thumbs touching the display. Esp. with the cam being added there will still be a clear definition of top and bottom.

I can see it happening to the iPhone or iPod since you can just hold them in the pam of your hand and Apple would use this to get the device even smaler. Than again, i don´t know about 4-5 finger gestures on such a smal display, but there are always ways to ajust (the mouse dos have different gestures than the trackpad after all)

The stiffness of the Home button (which I do like the feel of normally) makes multitasking by double-click just a little awkward. The gestures should fix that quite well!

A useful improvement if you’re doing multi-app productivity tasks—which the iPad is more and more becoming useful for. (If I get an iPad in time, I plan to do my taxes in iOS Numbers.)

Just updated to 4.3 on my iPad, and none of the fancy new multitouch swiping works, but the side switch does work.

:(

Same here I just upgraded, took a while. And there are no gesture option

The orientation lock option is there, but the multitouch gestures are suppose to be right bellow it but there not, and just don't work

that's pretty sweet. maybe they could implement it for the iphone except with two-three fingers haha... i'm wishing though :p

This makes me happy. I have been looking forward to finally purchasing an iPad. But made the unfortunate decision of getting a cheap used Palm Pre Plus first....

WebOS is much MUCH MUCH better at multitasking. Switching between open apps is painless.

Ah. Got it! Be sure to select "Use for development" in Xcode and it appears! Fun!
