I love how people can be so fascinated with commercials that show absolutely nothing about what they are offering... Looked like a clock commercial to me.

Apple's commercials focus on the PRODUCT, which is very rare in commercials these days. Most commercials now are just some short 30 second story with a brand trademark attached to it...

it says iPhone 4 at the end.
yes you dont get to physically see the product but i think most people know what the iphone 4 is...and if they dont, this ad is intriguing enough to send people to the internet to search it up.

Let it go...if this commercial is geared towards existing subscribers, your statement won't matter. We already know we can't do data and voice at the same time.

Not trying to beat "a dead horse" here.... but there are some newbies that might jump in and not know the whole story....

Do wonder once the Verizon iPhone ships and folks see how the past iPhone ads don't live up to the ATT experience will feel...

Not sure why since my upgrade to the iPhone 4 from my original iPhone... but finding that I like more and more the ability to talk and surf the data....

Competition is a good thing though..

That's odd that Verizon is able to advertise the iPhone, when AT&T never was.

How do you know it was an Verizon ad? What if those "millions of customers" referred to Apple's customers? After all, one of the persons in the ad was using Apple-hardware.

In all seriousness, it was ad for both. Previous iPhone-ads also advertized AT&T, and this one advertized Verizon.

I think the ad was great. There's no need to advertize the iPhone as such, as everyone already knows what it is. What needs advertizing is the fact that it's coming to Verizon. This ad builds anticipation. It doesn't say much, which makes it more effective.

I'm quite certain that this ad was made by Apple. It has their style written all over it.

your idea of a good ad is one where they list the features and specifications of the product? Something like this:

"I though it was some kind of clock commercial, like iClock or something." by stu00a

wait for what? technology that's about as old as I am?
Bottom line, you can't be on the phone and the net at the same time. FAIL

Oh my god ... thank you for that link.

Friggin hilarious, and well done.

It's amazing how many people are excited over this, ie. going from a provider-locked iPhone to a provider-locked iPhone that can only be used in 1 country. Mind boggling. Only in the US.

"who never stopped believing"
is Verizon a religion back there in the US? Bloody hell, can they get any more dramatic for a phone?

very simple, but well shot and to the point commercial. though, i dont think millions have been waiting to go to Verizon on the iPhone , maybe up to half of that.

Hummm... I think you might be wrong if I understand you right...

I bet they sell a million iPhones on Verizon in the first month. I know several people who have been waiting for this.

Forget the TV ads. Check out the Verizon website.

Look! They have 3 kinds of phones!

:D Boy, how'd you like to be a Blackberry, Android, or Windows phone manufacturer right now? That's gotta make you feel great to see that on their main page.

Actually, in countries with multiple iphone carriers that is pretty common. They can have their own special set of plans too, which are sometimes slightly better than their standard packages.

But these carriers also rarely advertise the iphone. Other phones may be promoted in junk mail or on the back of buses, or on the TV, but the carriers don't advertise the iphone. They don't need to as it is their top selling phone.

To everyone who says that this is "pointless" or that "people are not that interested on Verizon iPhone". You do not really understand the importance Apple carries with it. When they announced the Verizon iPhone, Comedy Central had something like 10 minutes long piece about it. You never see something like that with any of the "flavour of the week"-Android phones. Yes, they sell well, but deep down, nobody really cares about them.

i guess ill be the one to say it - that was retarded.

I am an apple fan. Not an ATT nor Verizon fan. In my opinion they are all sub par in the US.

But this commercial just doesnt really say anything. I have an iphone on ATT and this commercial did not make me think twice about my network. My mom on wants a smartphone but this commercial doesnt make it seem like she should get an iphone either.

Its a nothing ad.

The add wasn't directed at you. It was directed at the folks on Verizon who have been waiting and waiting for the awesomeness of the iPhone to come to their preferred supplier. Or, it's directed at the people on AT&T who have bad coverage in their area and are desperately waiting to switch. It supposed to get those folks worked up in a fevered pitch. I think it's a great start.

Personally I'm happy on AT&T and don't have any plans to switch...but I enjoyed the ad.

Great ad.

Great ad.

I really liked Verizon's iPad ad, too.

Also, notice how this ad is seemingly aimed at their current customers? An interesting approach that makes total sense. I suspect they really will sell mostly to current customers for the first few months. If someone really really wanted an iPhone before now and didn't love Verizon they probably already have one.

You have that right. While all the hype is about AT&T users going to Verizon, the real loser in this deal is Android. People are learning that for a few hundred extra bucks, you can get something that is not a pain in the butt and works reliability. All app developers should expect a big boost in sales when this happens.

Fox Business News says Verizon made the ad.

Heck, the extra "Rule the Air" logo at the end should give that away to anyone.

"who never stopped believing"

A lot, and that means millions, of people simply would not leave Verizon no matter what, because of its reliability and coverage in their area compared to any other carrier.

The ad thanks those customers for hanging in, even though they really wanted an iPhone all that time. Pretty classy.

Personally, I wish they'd had a Verizon SWAT team swoop in on the Island of Misfit Toys and rescue that poor iPhone :)

Nice Marketing

It was really nice marketing.

Better than: "Can you hear me now?"

Person 1: Can you hear me?
Person 2: No.
Person 1: Can you hear me now?
Person 2:No!
Person 1: How about now?
Person 2: No!!
Person 1: Must be my iPhone.

I enjoyed it. Mainly because I am one of those people staring at the clock. And to think, I almost waited to use my upgrade on my Blackberry Pearl in August of 2009, just in case the iPhone were coming out soon...

Many here are analyzing the ad a bit too much. At the very basic the ad is supposed to make people in general, not just Verizon customers who have been waiting 'forever' (the ad agency probably thought that would be a cute angle to take), aware that the iPhone is now ALSO available on Verizon and hopefully they'll be interested.

Verizon Needs Apps!

pretty lame YouTube video, Verizon!
Wanna get eyeballs, convert users?
Get creative, go viral, and continue the dialogue with Social Messaging(TM)!
And then pre-install on all VZW iPhones the first killer mobile app:
full-featured text/IM client, super-charged with MeetMe(TM) and soon-to-be-released Point-and-Chat(TM), for messaging with 80% of all smart phone users.
Who are you going to call?
PoKos!

Cool advert. I'm sure later commercials will include the device in use.
