I thought it was about the ADAM computer as well... I was a TRS-80 / TI99-4A kid in High school... circa 1980

I learned programming on a TRS-80 Model 3, but I remember craving an Model 4P because of its "portability". The keyboard slot and fully enclosed case were totally pimp.

Do you remember Microsoft Flight Simulator for the TRS-80s?

OMG. That was pimp back in the day!

I would miss to many of my iOS apps. All I really want is a new notification system and my iPad would be perfect. I have no desire for widgets or any other useless garbage like that.

Anyone else looking forward to the Adam?
No.

I had a TI99-4A. Parents got it for me when I was in the 5th or 6th grade but that's what turned me on to computer. I had got so good at writing BASIC programs buy the time I got to 7th grade my teacher would let me play games while she taught the class. She just gave me the test on test days...
You did BASIC programming in class when you were 12/13? And had tests? Where did you go to school, MIT?! Or is that common in the US? :D I remember we had BigTrak at junior school (which could be programmed, kind of) and then a little bit of LOGO in grammar school but that was about it!

I was in elementary when I got the TI/994a Played games with it, had those funky joysticks. Had the voice synth and tape recorder.

Got to fumbling through the BASIC book one day and saw it had a jackpot game, you just had to type in all the code and it took me forever to do it because I couldn't type back then but I finally got it done. Then I was alike woooah. What else can I do and took it from there

In the 7th grade or maybe it was the 8th we had a BASIC programming class. Funny thing was the teacher I had in Jr High came to teach at the HS I went to she let me grade people LOL

Then I had one professor in college who saw I knew my computer stuff told me just show up for the exam. Got an A. I hate I switched from programming to more hardware side of things. I do some programming at work now but mostly I deal with the hardware side of things.

To be honest though I want to get into something else. I'm kind of bored dealing with computers.

Oh I wish I was smart enough to go to MIT. Heck I can't even meet the quals to be their janitor :D

I thought this thread was about

I wanted one of these so bad! But sadly all I got was a Radio Shack Color Computer II.

Have to chuckle at the irony of a thread that started out about a LAGS tablet morphing into nostalgia (wish I still had my Vic-20 ;) ). Looks like Androidpwns has been pwned.

No.

I had programming classes starting at age 15, but my parents had computers in the house years before that so I cut my teeth on TRS80s for fun. Basic & Pascal with a little Fortran. This was before C so Assembly scared me from pursuing it further. Ironically I do AS3 programming now.

Get back on topic guys. It's so frustrating when you do this. Clearly this is nothing about what the OP was talking about.

Threads drift. It happens all the time. Deal.

Why? Do we really need to get back on topic just to repeat what has already been said?

Basically the only thing that was said is what I said about the Notion Ink Adam. Everything else was completely pointless. Granted, this is an Apple/Mac forum but I think it is alright to talk about a device that is in the same genre. But talking about a computer for the 80's has NOTHING to do with the Notion Ink Tablet.

Yea, like the Ink is even in the same league as the TI-99 or the C64. Who had the Commadore MODEM ?

Waiting for reviews to come out. It looks promising and as an android fan I'm excited

"Are you keeping up with the commodore? Cuz the commodore is keeping up with you!"

LOL, i can't believe they are still around. How crazy would it be if they went mainstream again. They disappeared before i was even born! what have they been doing these last 2 decades?

Vaporware at best. The specs look impressive, but how many times have we seen that before? Reminds me of that Quirky Cloak iPad case that disappeared into oblivion after almost a year of hype.

Their website is a disaster. Doesn't really tell anything, and ridiculous load times for some lightning storm promising apps that "I've never seen before". Then...nothing...just like the end result will be.

Don't waste your time waiting.

Another pic of the amazing screen

2e67ojp.jpg

Who needs a saturated screen on some damn eeepc 1015pn netbook if you can get a blueish hue on your newest adam tablet?

And this is what happens when you type with the adam :D
Compared to an asus eeepc 1015pn, its pretty bummy. sorry im on the adam rigt now and the keyboard is kind of iffy. The viewing angles aare not that great, impossible in portrait mode even. I also cant get flash to work, none of the linux versions will downnload and the sdam registers as a phone. Sorry sbouthhe typos. Thiskeybosrd cant comcant compsre to a netbook at all. Way too smalL. This post has been ppainful to type lol

First off, congrats to an upstart getting their product tot market, I can't bash anyone for trying. However they have a long way to go considering their initial patch rendered some/several of the tablets a paperweight. Don't care for the looks of the UI or the laggy, jerky UI that pretty much every Android tablet has had. Galaxy tab, various kirf knockoff, Archos and the cheap Kmart specials, all horrible IMO.

The C64 link provided... Is awesome and I would buy one to go with my fully functioning one I have at home. 20 lb 5 1/4" floppy drive and all. Purchased in 1983, used by my father to create estimating programs I use today. Also the first machine I learned to program on, very cool to see a remake, and way more exciting than another tablet. :)
