I'm a smart guy i know my way around a soldering iron and stuff but for the life of me i cant figure out why my ipod touch wont charge i have replaced the battery twice with the same effect it says its charging but it dosent.

I had a work around for it but it was far from ideal i soldered on a connector the the + and - of the battery and charged it externaly but i dont like doing this.

Ive seen many posts and googles about this problem but no anserews id like to get this anserewed once and for all

Why wont my ipod touch charge?

Any help would be most helpfull.

Also, I have tried restoring, dfu mode etc with the same effect and its currnelty on 3.12 jailbroken.

I have an iPhone 3gs, Why should i throw away a perfectly good ipod just because its old?

Well, it's not really "perfectly good" anymore. iPhone 3GS is only 1.5 years old whereas the first generation iPod touch is over 3 years old.
