I installed a new hard drive (Seagate Momentus XT) and a new battery (original) in my MacBook5,1, and since then, my MacBook sometimes shuts down by itself.

I have to reconnect the power adapter before I can restart, otherwise he won't start up.

Does anyone know what I should do?

Thanks,
Ken

Make sure your battery is calibrated and charged properly. Also, reset your SMC. Instructions for both in the link below, under CALIBRATION and CHARGING. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

I can't calibrate the battery, because my laptops shuts itself down every ten minutes or so.

I did reset the SMC and PRAM, nothing worked.

When I put the old battery back in, everything works fine.
