Hello,

Can you purchase applecare for a refurbished iphone?

Do you have to buy applecare at the time of purchase?

I am halfway through my free warranty, and want to buy applecare for my Iphone 4, which is refurbished (Replaced my original phone due to defect.)

Also, how do you set-up applecare?

Yes, you can purchase AppleCare for refurbished products. Link

And no, you can buy AppleCare any time during the first year (while your original warranty is valid, but not a day later).

Once you purchase AppleCare, you can either follow the directions and register online, or you can purchase AppleCare directly from an Apple representative over the phone at 1-800-MY-IPHON. Just tell the rep you'd like to purchase AppleCare, and they'll register it automatically and mail (or email) you the documents for your records.
