Mini Displayport could also do this, you need a MDP - HDMI adaptor that can carry audio.

you need any adapter that specifically says it passes thru audio....there are many adapters that do HDMI but only a handful do the audio...I bought a Moshi adapter and works great...

Yes and yes. I use the rocketfish mdp to hdmi adapter and it does just that. The picture is crystal clear and the audio comes through the tv without a hitch. And for 25 bucks it's a little cheaper than some of the other options.

I would expect the Apple MDP to HDMI to work fine also. I've not tested it with my 13" i7, but it would see odd to me if it did not work.

Is there any main difference between a cheap one on ebay and one on the apple store? I want to connect mine to a 24" monitor but if I can save $30 and they both do the job fine, I'll get one on ebay.
