EA, which owns the hugely popular FIFA soccer video game franchise, has brought the game to the Mac for the first time with FIFA 2012, as noted by The Loop. The game is available via digital download for $39.99 on Gametree.
For the first time ever, the best-selling FIFA Soccer franchise is being made available on the Mac with FIFA Soccer 12!

Chosen Best Sports Game by E3 Game Critics, FIFA Soccer 12 brings to the pitch the game-changing new Player Impact Engine, a physics engine built to deliver real-world physicality in every interaction on the pitch. Revolutionary gameplay innovations inspired by the real-world game make FIFA Soccer 12 deeper and more engaging. All-new Precision Dribbling creates a higher fidelity of touch on the ball for better control in tight spaces, more time to make decisions on attack, and more control over the pace of the game. Innovations in attack are balanced by a re-designed defending mechanism called Tactical Defending, which fundamentally changes the approach to defending by placing equal importance on positioning, intercepting passes and tackling. Plus, CPU players have been infused with Pro Player Intelligence, the next generation of player intelligence and performance.
FIFA is the best-selling sports video game franchise of all time, with more than 100 million units sold worldwide.

FIFA 2012 for Mac requires OS X 10.6.8 or higher, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM, and an ATI HD2600 or NVIDIA GeForce 9400M or greater, with 256MB of VRAM. Most notably, the game won't run on the Intel GMA 950 or X3100 video cards.

This is great news. This game/franchise is the only reason I own a console. Might give it up and just buy a couple of controllers to play it on my new thunderbolt display - here's hoping it runs well and everything!

If EA did it themselves, then it's undoubtedly cider.

So will this work with this years MacBook pro 13" with the intel hd 3000? It says something about x3100 not being compatible with it?

It's EA so it will no doubt suck.

How they ever win awards is beyond me; I swear they have to bribe people. I've played several of their award winning games and have been disappointed every time.

Curious also about if it works on the 13 2011. It would be bloody tragic and comic in the same time if a machine released in the same year with the game would not work.

I ain't throwing 40 bucks yet without seeing some reviews.

Fifa 2012

At last lets hope EA does it proud! Wonder if it can be played on a bluetooth compatible gamepad. Any suggestions?

It'll work... the naming system for the x3100 and the HD3000 aren't comparable, so despite it being a smaller number, the HD3000 is much more powerful.

I wish this was on the Mac App Store... I have education credit I want to spend on a game or two, but I don't want to fork over $40 out of pocket...

Ah please don't be a Cider wrap...

I hook my Mac up to my TV and use PS2 controllers plugged into my Mac to play Fifa. Having to reboot into Windows is a real pain, and I'd love to be able to just plug in and start the game without the fuss. But if it's a Cider wrap, then doubt that'll happen, I want good performance too.

I am enjoying more and more developers coming to the OS platform, i much prefer native support rather than piggybacking on Windows.

From what I gathered, it's pretty much the same.. with better resolution and fast loading times ;)

unlike previous version that has big difference in gameplay, 2012 pc's and console's is the same..
