Yesterday, word surfaced that entries for revised iPhone 4 models had appeared in Apple's inventory database, but at the time there was no sign of new iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 models.

9to5Mac now reports that entries for an iPhone identified as "N94" have indeed appeared in the database, courtesy of reliable source "Mr. X". The N94 iPhone has been the subject of numerous parts leaks that have revealed it to be iPhone 4-like in appearance, with the device having been rumored to be called the iPhone 4S.

With one of higher-end models of the N94 iPhone listed in the database with a model number of MD234, the developments may lend credence to a leaked photo of what was claimed to be a label for the white 16 GB iPhone 4S. That label, which surfaced on a Chinese forum yesterday, refers to the lower-end device as model number MD239.

That label, presuming it is genuine, also makes reference to both IMEI and MEID numbers, which would indicate that the device is indeed a world-mode phone capable of operating on GSM (IMEI number) and CDMA (MEID number) networks.

There continues to be no sign of the rumored redesigned iPhone 5 that has been the subject of much discussion since case designs based on a leaked design document began appearing several months ago.

Mr. X also indicates that Apple's iPod touch line may be seeing some price drops next week, at least in international markets. It is unknown exactly what price points the iPod touch will come in at in the United States, as it is unclear how much of the international price adjustment is due to currency fluctuation and how much might be due to an actual price cut.

The report suggests, however, that the entry-level 8 GB iPod touch could come in at $199 or below, down from its current $229 price point. The iPod touch is expected to see only very minor updates next week, with the addition of white models, improved ambient light sensors, and oleophobic coatings for the displays being the primary changes.

How big of a let down would it be if the new iphone was simply a speed bump and a better camera?

It would be so lame and far behind the competition. But... This seems to be the likely outcome.

No matter what it looks like why call it the 4S? I hope there is 2 phones. iOS 5. 5th Gen iPhone= 4s. So much for surprise and delight.

Like I said, I'll be really surprised if this is not a big update, because Apple needs to stay ahead of the game before people jump ship. There will be a lot of switchers if they don't do a more significant upgrade.

I would be happy if it was like an upgrade from iPad 1 to iPad 2. Redesign, faster, etc. That's all they need to stay ahead of the game.

It's been over a year... They didn't release a new phone in June/July this year.

I CAN'T believe the upgrade will be similar to that of the 3GS. Please no.

It would be ridiculous. Everyone is getting 4G and a bigger screen.

It's a win-win for everyone!

Situation 1: Apple releases an iPhone 5.
- We all wait for release, and we have the glorious phone that we've all been wanting.

Situation 2: Apple releases only a 4S.
- We all go to ATT or Best Buy or wherever and get the Samsung Galaxy S2 on October 4th.

Can't really go wrong either way.

My prediction from weeks ago still stands. The 4S exists. But it is a world-mode iPhone 4 that will sell for $99 along with a brand new iPhone 5.

Five more days of conflicting rumors, predictions, agonizing. Are we there yet?

Assuming there is an iPhone 5 with a new design, Apple's done a good job keeping it under wraps.

And if there isn't...well, that would not be good.

Packaging looks quite real and this news messed my head again with awful naming scheme. I bet on 4th Oct, before 10 O' clock, there would be two more rumors about iPhone design and names.

Another damned phone made of fragile glass with the same antenna-gate causing metal band. It's like Apple is actively encouraging me to switch to Android.

What the hell have their tech people been doing for the last 16 months? This phone could've been released alongside the iPad 2 -- all the internals are identical.

But, what about all this...?

http://www.cultofmac.com/116347/a-m...adically-thinner-teardrop-iphone-5-is-coming/

A million cases for the iPhone 5. So many case manufacturers, even Case-Mate believe it's legit.
If there isn't an iPhone 5 then everybody will be disappointed and the case manufacturers would have lost so much money.. this makes no sense at all.

There is reason to take these designs seriously. Chinese case manufacturers compete vigorously for narrow margins. They know their business and are not beyond using extra-legal means to get their hands on Apple’s top secret prototypes. In June a Chinese court sent three people to prison on conspiracy charges for selling an early design for the iPad 2 to a case maker willing to pay 20,000 yuan ($3,000) for first crack at the market

How would people feel about an aluminium uni-body iphone 4S/5 with an edge to edge 4" screen?

I'm convinced there will be a redesigned iPhone and a speedbumped iPhone 4.

If not, and only an iPhone 4S, then Amazon wins the month in geek.

No more rumors!

Guys. Just wait 5 more days! Thats it! These rumors for iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 have been going back and forth for a long time and it's annoying! Just stop with the rumors and wait for Tuesday. There will be no iPhone 4S. Apple likes to be competitive so there HAS to be an iPhone 5! 

Could be that people are just more tight lipped about the new new iPhone. Then Apple announces it as one more thing and fanboys go into convulsions. A slightly changed iPhone 4 would be a good diversion. /wishfulthinking
