Rumors are circulating about the next James Bond film.

Daniel Craig will star again, and we now know that Javier Bardem will be the villain. Quoted before it was confirmed he said "They’re changing the whole thing, the whole dynamic. I'd be playing Bond's nemesis, yes, but it's not that obvious. Everything is more nuanced. It's very intriguing.”

The film title will apparently be Skyfall, judging by recent domain registrations by Sony Pictures.

Judi Dench will be back again as "M" and Sam Mendes will direct the film.

Berenice Marlohe is reportedly going to be a Bond girl.

We also have speculation about the next actor to play James Bond, with Idris Elba from "The Wire" talking about whether or not to accept the job. Craig had suggested the idea of having a non-white James Bond. Elba told CNN "I would do it, but I don't want to be called the first black James Bond. Do you understand what I'm saying? Sean Connery wasn't the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn't the blue-eyed James Bond. So if I played him, I don't want to be called the black James Bond." Sorry, Elba, but if you sign up you won't have a choice about that.

Despite some people's criticisms of the two newest films, the Craig Bond movies are my favorites, right after Goldeneye (and that might just be nostalgic bias).

Looking forward to this one!

Why are we talking about the next Bond? Is this the last film Craig will be doing? Shame since I liked him as Bond....

I was thinking just the other day when we would start hearing about the next Bond flick. I think Daniel Craig is great (having seen every single Bond movie), although I liked Casino Royale a little more than Quantum of Solace, but they were both really good. Stoked for the next one. Thanks for posting

Casino Royale was great. Quantum of Solace on the other hand..terrible.

I really hope Skyfall is done right, I can't wait for the movie. I remember doing a Bond movie marathon before Casino Royale came out.. and it was amazing. Goldeneye was one of my all time favourites.
I still laugh at the title of Octopussy..LOL

Looking forward to 23!

Casino Royale is the near the top of my favourite Bond films (up there with Goldeneye and Goldfinger). Quantum of Solace wasn't awful, but it was a pretty big letdown after Casino Royale.

I'm also disappointed to see Craig's run as Bond coming to an end, as I really enjoy him as Bond and love his characterization of 007.

This does raise a question for Bond 24, though: will they/should they go the Batman route, and reboot again (essentially turning the franchise into a series of independent parts, rather than 1 extended, continuous part)?

The franchise is already sort of a series of independent parts. I mean, Bond barely ages at all over the 30 years that it hasn't been "rebooted," and the different Bonds barely refer to events in each others' movies at all.

It's just that with Craig's movies, the reboot was explicitly stated.

I hope this falls back in like with Casino Royale which was fantastic. Quantum of Solace was just...boring, long, mostly forgettable. Which is a shame, because I was hoping it would cement Daniel Craigs status as a good Bond.

edit: side note, I'm glad that there is actually going to be a Bond 23, it's future seemed shaky at best not too long ago :p

I remember reading a year or two ago that if Mendes directed 23, he was interested in having The Killers do the opening song. I hope he's still leaning in that direction.

Yes and no. The earlier films were much more inter-related - Blofeld and SPECTRE were a recurring villain in 6 of the movies. But you're right, the later films in particular are much more singular entries.

That said, it was still always a continuation of what happened before. There are little nods to this - in Goldeneye Bond makes a remark about the new M's predecessor, as an example.

Auugh! I might have to bring a large remote control with a MUTE button into the theater!

Difference of opinion, I guess.

I know not many people will agree to this, but I think Timothy Dalton was an excellent bond. Since Daniel Crag's bond reminds me of Dalton's, I like him

I actually agree with this. When I was younger I couldn't stand him, but when I visited all the Bond movies again later on in life I found his approach to the character to be one of my favorites. I like a little bit from all of the different actors to play Bond, but I really wish we could have seen at least one more Dalton movie, and I really think the flack he gets is undeserved.

Ben Whishaw will play "Q" in Skyfall.

Q will be younger than Bond! But that's OK since we know kids are best with gadgets.

Javier Bardem is not Sean Connery, ergo, I will not be watching this movie. The only Bond film that can be made, and begs to be made, involves Daniel Craig and Sean Connery destroying MI6 and getting revenge for the brutal murders and assassinations MI6 committed of all the previous 007s (James Bonds).

Don't quite get the grading on the opening shot TBH. There is detail in the clouds that can be seen in the fade up/down but they blow out the highlights. Didn't strike me as a great opening shot!
