I have a 1st generation MBA that is not booting up correctly. The Mac sound plays. The Apple logo is displayed and the loading symbol continues to spin. Any suggestions? I'm running the latest version of Lion!
try resetting the NVRAM - i.e. upon restart simultaneously hold down the following keys:
command+option+P+R
until you hear the startup chime at least 3 times and then allow to start normally
then repair disk permissions.
if the issue persists I'd say the prob is that you only would have 2gb of memory plus a (now) slow PATA HDD.
you'd be much better off backing up your home folder and doing an erase and fresh install of Snow Leopard
