Yay updated OTA!

For all those who haven't updated OTA, it's ten times faster and runs smoothly. Absolutely no problem updating my iPad 2!

Just got the OTA update.

Carrier: Sprint
Phone: 4S
Size: 32GB

Nice. Did it lock the Micro SIM slot? If you have a foreign Micro SIM, perhaps check it out and report back, as Sprint had earlier reported that they would lock it with a future update.

Tried it on my iTouch but every time I download it, it downloads it and then gives a download error...guess I'll wait and try again later

Doing an OTA update on my iPhone 4 (Rogers in Canada).

It's pretty stupid that the delta update can only be downloaded from the phone and not iTunes. Guess I'll be doing OTA updates from now on, 50MB instead of 800MB...

thats weird because during the betas, you could download over 3g just fine. when they released the first ota beta update for iOS 5 (i think beta 3), it took only like 3-5 min to download over 3g. it was like 110mb if i remember correctly.
Yeah, I am not sure what the issue is this time around. It just gave us a notification that downloading over 3G could eat up our data plan allowance.

Downloading right now in the US.

I love how so many of you are whining about having the option for OTA updates. You people will complain no matter what.

"Oh. I just won a quarter billion dollars from the lottery. But I have to drive all the way down to the office to claim it? That's ********."

Some of us know that Apple could have done this over 3G as well (like they did in the beta) but are choosing (for no apparent reason) not to allow it.

How do you know, regularly?

I went and checked to see if it was there on my iPhone 4, but does anyone know if Apple is going to alert users? I'm thinking of people like the lady I helped set up her new iPhone 4s yesterday. She's not going to think to go check from time to time and doesn't read these sorts of sites.

Anyone know what the alert plan, if any, is?

was worried for a minute. iPad went thru verifying the update then shut down and showed the connect to iTunes logo for a good 20 seconds then moved on to the progress bar.

Just noticed the carrier option popped up on my 4S in settings for a good 30 seconds then dissapeared

Is your hosts file pointing to Cydia? That would result in the error you're seeing.

My phone isn't jailbroken, but I had jailbroken a friend's phone. Could this problem be from some of the software that is still on my computer, but not my phone?

question didn't iOS 5 Beta have a red circle with a 1 balloon on setting when there was an iOS update?

I think they should put that on there like a push notifaction like letting you know there an update
