Anyone ever see a line like that for an Android phone outside a Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T store? Just curious.

Better question, Does anyone care but a few fringe Apple Worshipers on MR?

If you need someone to explain to you why apple would produce long lines for a release(Once per year) vs a typical android phone(Multiple Phones, Multiple times)... you shoulnt be talking tech industry in the first place.

That kind of mindshare has to be earned. It doesn't appear out of thin air. And it took Apple years of fine-tuning vertical integration (which also helped them achieve radical differentiation.) You can market the hell out of your product but if there is nothing behind it, it won't do any good. Certainly not in today's market.

Wow, you dont get it either, you would make an excellent politician. Please see my reply to Linux above...

Everything you said is nice, but it isnt the sole reason why apple produces lines at their stores for iPhone, iPad releases.

And the grey-market just got a new supply source:)

How many of these people will be buying multiples, I wonder?

hell people would have to line up daily for all the android phones and versions that come out.

android the OS might generate that kind of loyalty, but show me one android handset that does? they are all replaced within a few weeks, which doesn't build any sort of customer loyalty.

No, people are willing to stand in line for Apple computers and iOS devices due to robust OS, outstanding security, and the added bonus of unsurpassed design and aesthetics.

Oh wow, look at this! Non Apple biased sources claim iOS is more secure than Android - including one from PC World.

Looks like Windows and Android sharing love for malware - LOL!!

Wow, I wasn't aware that this place was only devoted to what is important to you. Thanks for clarifying that.

Isn't it interesting that the design of the iPhone appeals to so many different cultures.
Yes it is. We look as so many other things, especially architecture, and see how vastly different it is from place to place. However, Apple products ARE unique, in equal measures of software and hardware alike -- hardware design and execution has such small tolerances and are created with aluminum, glass and lasers! I've never seen an iPhone 4 knockoff, but I imagine it's not made with the same care Apple uses. People recognize quality. I think that's the key difference.

It's very early to say just how well the iPhone will do in China but I think off the charts.

I think a big selling point for the Chinese will be status as well. "I have a REAL iPhone".
